Childhood Memories

I so miss those days when festivals were all about fun, party , delicacies, friends, play , new dresses and long holidays. Wow!! What a time that was… We celebrated almost every single festival , be it  Holi , Diwali , Eid , Christmas, Janamashtmi , Guru Nanak Jayanti etc , etc , etc..

Every single festival has story linked to it. Like on Dussera, we use to dress up as Ram , Laxman and Bharat . Mummy made bow and arrows for us which we  hang on our shoulders. Also she used to make crowns as we were supposed to be Kings .. *Smiles* .. Papa and Mummy design Ravana out of sticks, chart papers and hang crackers on it. In evening , at the time of Ravana Dahana, one among the three of us get the golden opportunity to kill Ravana by lighting fire …. Those were the best days of my life *So Miss them *

Since past few years we are away from home , but my parents  created Ravana for our tenant’s kids. Sharing a few pictures..

Jai Ambe Maa

mata jinko yad kare woh log nirale hote hai

Mata jinka nam pukare kismatwale hote hai

Chalo bulawa aaya hai mata ne bulaya hai

Unnchhe parvat pe rani ma ne darbar lagaya hai

Chalo bulawa aaya hain, mata ne bulaya hain,

Sare jag me ek thikana sare gham ke maro kaa

Rasta dekh rahi hai mata apani aankh ke taro kaa

Mast hawao kaa ek jhonka yeh sandesa laya hai

Chalo bulawa aaya hain, mata ne bulaya hain

Jai Mata Di kehte jao aane janey walo ko

Chalte jao tum mat dekho apne pao ke chhalo ko

Jisne jitna dard saha hai utna chain bhi paya hai

Chalo bulawa aaya hai mata ne bulaya hai,

Vaishno devi ke mandir me log muraden pate hai

Woh rote rote aate hain, hanste hanste jate hain

mai bhi mang ke dekhu, jisne jo manga woh paya hain

Chalo bulawa aaya hai, mata ne bulaya hai,

Toh prem se bolo, jai mata dee

Sare bolo, jai mata dee,

Jai mata dee, jai mata dee

Vaishno rani, jai mata dee

Hum pe kalyani, jai mata dee

Ma bholi bhali, jai mata dee

Ma shero wali, jai mata dee

Jholi bhar deti, jai mata dee

Sankat har leti, jai mata dee, jai mata dee…..

I can’t wait to buy a nikon D5100 SLR camera. Without good pictures my blogging experience gets really boring at times.

The second on my wishlist is IPhone 5 which is bieng launched today in San Francisco. I am a huge fan of apple products though I will not deny that they are not easy to handle. I had battery issues with my IPhone 2G and there is no service available in India for 2G phones.

Is this some kind of a Joke ????????

I was shocked to hear this other day on national news. What is wrong with National Planning Commission and our government ?

As per the Government , those with a daily income of 25 rupees (50 cents) in villages and 32 rupees (65 cents) in cities should not be eligible for government assistance schemes and anyone earning above those levels can afford to pay for “food, education and health” . Do you really think so ????

In my office canteen , where food rates are subsidized , one meal costs rs 34 for a person. If you even go for a roadside dhaba , i think the minimum price will be somewhere around 25rs/plate.

I just tried to visualize the life of a poor man earning around Rs 800 a month . Say , he has a wife and 2 childrens to look after. Listed below are his assumed expenses

1. Sugar : 2 Kgs = Rs 60

2. Flour : 5kg = Rs 150 – 200

3. Vegetables : mim Rs 300 per month

4. Other groceries : min Rs 200

All money consumed in feeding 4 lives . Where is the money for shelter , education , health and medicines ??

I feel to live a decent average life in present condition , one needs to atleast earn Rs 75 – rs 100 a day. The World Bank global poverty line is at $1.25 a day, then how can Indian Government  be so in sensitive towards his own people ? Extremely disappointed !!!! Aaaarrgghhhhh !!!

Prominent Indian social activist Aruna Roy rightly said that the new levels reflected “the government’s lack of empathy for the poor” and a “perspective completely divorced from reality”.
